Return of the Energy benders Ch. 1

Chapter 1 - Grave news



The land was calm and quiet, the breeze whispered sweet thoughts and the sun played along the waters a gentle song. The years of peace seemed to last for decades, showing no sign of an end erupting in wars and death. 

Children played and laughed, parents watching with moving smiles. How could such a scene happen to exist? 

Mankind is equal, none above the other in power, none isolating themselves or forcing their beliefs and wishes on others. The earth is not in sick state, barren wastelands never showing their ugly heads.

A man sat in a glass like hall, silence blew threw this vacuum of a room. He pushed his sliding sleeve back on his shoulder. A dark skinned man, of great wisdom, white hair showing his age. Vigor and kindness blossomed from his eyes. 

"Cain.....?" A woman's voice called the man of dark skin pigment. Cain looked from his writings to his wife. "Sky...." this name flowed from his lips and the tattooed woman approached him.

Sky gently kissed him on the fore head, "Laius wants to see you...." she said before a one year old little girl popped from behind Sky and ran to her grandfather.

 "Papa!" she squeaked before being picked up. "Hey!" Cain smiled spinning the little girl around a bit as she squealed and giggled in excitement. 

Laius purred as she nuzzled her grandfather, wrapping her little arms around his neck as best she could. "She wanted to be the first to see you before the counsel meeting started." Sky smiled.

"Well I'm happy your the first to see me this morning little one." Cain smiled receiving a giggle. "Down papa!" Laius exclaimed wiggling a bit before the elder man set her on her feet. Laius pounced on her kneeling grandmother who had her arms stretched out for the small girl.

"Thank you for the pleasant morning surprise." Cain smiled planting a kiss on Sky's cheek and Laius's fore head. "Your welcome my love." Sky smiled returning the kiss.

Cain waved as he watched their retreating forms exit behind the heavy doors. It was a few minutes before the gathering of elders of Surge empire would commence. Cain gave a final glance at this writings before gathering them up.

The low hum of voices could be heard through the door, two mischievous kids listened outside the door. "Can you hear what their saying Yanak?" a little girl asked her sister.

"Shhh..!" Yanak voiced lowly to her younger sibling, "Be quiet Daaeh or they might hear you." The elder girl said gently putting her finger on Daaeh's lips to silence the girl.

"Ganten how many reports have come in?" Thae asked coercing his beard softly. "Ten in the east, fifteen in the west, twenty four in the south and a final reported count was eighteen in the north." Ganten said having received this information from fellow scouts.

The elders mumble among themselves of the news, things were seeming to rapidly change. "Of what element in each directed village and town?" Sartos asked Ganten. "In the north a majority were water, the south as well. The west air and earth, the east fire as well as air again." Ganten explained having remembered this.

"We feared this day would come, after countless people began dabbling in the forbbiden bending." Thae sighed at this, the others simply shook their heads in disappointment and slight disbelief that the people were seeking power over others.

"What are you two doing?" a boys voice said low enough for the elders not to hear as he stood behind Yanak and Daaeh. Both girls squeaked and fell over each other as they scrabbled away from the door. "Beytak don't do that!" Yanak scolded at their elder friend who was older by a year. 

"Well you shouldn't have left me in the market to run from the sales men who's cart you ran into." Beytak pouted playfully but only received a glare from both twin girls. "You mean the cart you ran into." Yanak emphasized. Beytak backed up a bit with a nervous chuckle as well as an awkward smile.

Yanak tackled Beytak after getting herself untangled from her sister. "Ack! Get off I'm already swore from training yesterday." Beytak whine quietly as Daaeh simply giggled. Yanak took him by the ear and dragged him down the hall, "Boys." she sighed shaking her head.

"Send out the best in the Surge academy. Make no movements of violence simply try to reason with them, but if they become aggressive we have no choice but to take action." Head counsel man Atai said to Ganten who nodded, "At once high elder." 

Ganten left as quickly as he spoke, putting a aerial gladiator helmet on. He made his way into the hall, catching sight of the three ten year olds as they walked down the hall. He walked in the opposite direction, soon moving into a light jog before a low hum was heard before a slightly louder shriek was heard and his vanished.
